Traditional Health Training
College of Unani Tibb and Alternative Medicine (CUTAM) is based in Manchester and London (United Kingdom). We offer courses in Unani Tibb, Western and Eastern Nutrition. These are professional in-person and online training programmes. We also offer workshops on related topics.
Our diploma level programmes are taught by highly experienced teachers and practitioners in their field of expertise.
We look to train and develop individuals to be come practitioners at the highest skill.
Our Principal and Founder
Shahid Bukhari, ND
Shahid Bukhari is a Unani Medicine practitioner (a Tabeeb [a physician] or more commonly referred to as a “Hakim”) holds an ND Naturopathy, is registered Homeopath, Master Iridologist and a qualified herbalist. He is a member of the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists and GNC.
Due to his extensive years in clinical practice based in Manchester and London Hakim Bukhari began his teaching journey running popular experiential workshops and talks about natural medicine throughout the UK and aboard.
Hakim Bukhari has now extended his academic knowledge and clinical experience to formulate a didactic and experiential course, that sets the foundations of the diploma in the Unani medicine course.
Hakim Bukhari’s envisioned to facilitate a holistic course reviving the traditional practice of Unani medicine. His own academic and clinical journey of combining traditional and modern practices has enhanced his understanding that the key foundations of Unani medicine are rooted in historical traditional practice from generation to generation.
Using traditional Unani medicine as a foundational paradigm, Hakim Bukhari will show the students how to integrate modern practices for achieving high level of holistic practice for a client’s wellbeing.
Whilst under Hakim Bukhari’s tutelage, students not only complete the course with academic knowledge with nurtured clinical experience, but also embark on self-discovering learning journey, that leads to acquiring insight into self.
Hakim Bukhari’s holistic nature, hands on and practical experiential approach to learning has proven extremely popular learning style and has resulted in highly skilled practitioners.

Andrew Mason
Andrew teaches amongst other subjects Behavioural Iridology. His also and expert in Eastern Astrology and Alchemy. He started studying holistic medicine 20 years ago and completing his training as an Ayurvedic practitioner in 2006. He then undertook a unique and intensive apprenticeship in the east, learning astrological techniques and the closely guarded processes involved in the manufacturing of ancient alchemical remedies
Rabiah Mali, Herbalist
Rabiah studied western Herbal Medicine at the University of Westminster and has been a qualified herbalist since 2008. After her degree she travelled to Ghana, where her time spent with a local traditional herbalist re-ignited her love for nature and relating to plants from a spiritual worldview. In recent years her experiences with using herbs in her practice has further deepened her passion for the symbiotic relationship between nature, humans and spirituality. She is an associate of the St Ethelburga’s Spiritual Ecology fellowship, which led to the founding of the Green Deen Tribe, a movement of Nature connection founded in Islamic spirituality.
Sara Rana, BSc, Hijama and Mizan therapist
Sara is a practitioner of Hijamah, fire cupping, moxibustion, Swedish massage, Gua sha. She is also a qualified Mizan Therapy Practitioner.
Sara teaches Hijama at the college.
Ayesha Baig, BACP registered therapist
Integrative counsellor, Polyvagal informed therapist.
Ayesha, works with students, teaching listening and responding skills.
Elaine Stavert, Nat.Dip, NT.Dip, Associate Naturopath, Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist
Elaine trained in Naturopathy and Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy after becoming interested in nutrition while healing herself after a stroke. A previous owner of a herbal skincare business, author of 5 books on making herbal products, and a trained chef, Elaine has always been interested in natural medicine and herbs, and has an extensive herb garden at home. Elaine has a specific interest in using naturopathic approaches to support brain and gut health.
